A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Nwaeze Onu has said, the party is on the verge of sinking as it has departed from the ideals of the founding fathers.

Prince Onu, a 2019 senatorial candidate of the party for Ebonyi South senatorial zone accused the party of sundry anomalies which according to him has taken the party afar from being a progressive party.

The Onu in an article obtained by this media organization revealed that the APC which was founded on the premise of Progressiveness, adherence to core values of democracy has become a theatre of absurdities where obedience to rule of laws is no longer part of the dealings of the party.

“At the formation stage of the APC, we wanted a party that will be distinct from the then ruling party. We anchored our drive on Progressive goveranance that will be a model in our body Politics and play value in respecting rule of law but the party today has become a theatre of absurdities where respect to rule of law has become foreign to the party.

“APC constitution doesn’t provide for a caretaker Committee or whatsoever but the party has been ran with caretaker Committee for more than a year now and no body is talking about it. This very Committee is a threat to the continous existence of our party and it is becoming obvious at the dawn of every day that APC is sinking”

“President Buhari who came to power with good mind has been sidelined and his government hijacked by certain persons and the effects are glaring. From insecurity to bad economy, the country is in comatose and one wonder if this is APC we founded as an alternative?

“I have earlier called on the party to jettison share of Political appointments and positions according to blocks in the party, if the party continue in this trajectory, our party will continue to be divided”

“APC going forward should take caution, return the party to the ideals of the founding fathers and make everyone feel at home. The journey of bringing back the party to it’s original intention of formation should be pivotal as the party prepares for National Convention”

He maintained that unless the party does the right thing, coming back to government after President Buhari’s administration will be the hardest thing, adding that the opposition is already regrouping to takeover government.
