The five-man appeal panel set up by the Gov. Mai Buni-led All Progressives Congress Caretaker and Extra-Ordinary Convention Committee for the State Congress Election in Ekiti, has said that no petition is received from the state.

The former Oyo State Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Committee, Iyiola Oladokun, said this while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti.

Mr Oladokun revealed that no petition was filed by the Southwest Agenda for 2023 Presidential Aspiration of the former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, SWAGA, before the panel.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that SWAGA had on Oct. 21 inaugurated a parallel faction in Ado-Ekiti, following allegation from its the Zonal Coordinator, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye, that the Oct. 16 APC State Congress was filled with irregularities.

The appeal committee chairman said that SWAGA did not submit any petition before it to query the conduct of the congress, where Mr Paul Omotoso and 35 other executive members emerged.

“We arrived Ekiti on Sunday and we made our presence known immediately to all members and to whoever that was aggrieved as a result of the state congress of October 16.

“We commenced operation at the APC secretariat, Ado-Ekiti on Monday at 2 p.m, we didn’t see anybody to present any petition before us.

“Before we left Abuja, no petition or document of complaints was given to us. We were here at the party’s secretariat on Tuesday trying to give whoever was not aware of our arrival on Monday the benefit of the doubt, but we received none.

“We learnt that all the officials emerged through consensus at the state congress. In spite that, there was still voice affirmation in electing the 36-member executives,”Oladokun said.

He added that based on the current situation of absence of petition from anybody or group, the committee was ready to prepare its report to be submitted at the national headquarters of APC in Abuja.

The appeal committee chairman said, “no group by the name SWAGA submitted any petition before us. No petition from any group or individuals was received in the course of our staying here.”

Mr Oladokun, however, charged members of the state executive to unify the party and work hard to win the coming local government elections slated for Dec. 4 and the 2022 governorship poll in the state.

Reacting, the chairman of SWAGA in Ekiti, Tony Adeniyi, said they decided not to file any petition; because the body was in court challenging the delegate list used and the outcome of ward and local government congresses.

“It will be an exercise in futility to be participating in a congress that we are contesting the delegate list used for its conduct.

“The matter is before the Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti and we are awaiting the outcome of the court on the issue,” Mr Adeniyi said.
