The newly established Anambra security network, Agunechemba has raided the dreaded Lilu area of Ihiala Local Government Area on Monday, which resulted in the killing of at least six gunmen.

News Band gathered that during the sting operation, three additional suspects managed to escape their camps with gunshot injuries.

The local security network has reportedly taken control of two camps in the area, urging local residents to resume their daily activities and declaring that peace has been restored in the community.

Lilu has been identified as a safe haven for criminals, with alarming reports of kidnapped individuals being held in makeshift pits while awaiting ransom.

A source within the security squad according to SUN newspaper, revealed that the operation was preceded by extensive surveillance, allowing them to effectively decimate the hoodlums.

The source also disclosed the important role played by local residents, who are said to be tired of living under the threat posed by these armed rogues.

Moreover, before the raid in Lilu, Agunechemba had also executed an operation in the Umuoji Community within Idemili North Local Government Area, where two suspected gunmen were killed, and a cache of arms and charms believed to have been used in previous criminal activities was recovered.

Meanwhile, as part of effort to end criminality in Anambra State following the launch of “Operation Udo-Gachi” by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Presidents General from various communities across Anambra have started compiling a comprehensive inventory of residents, as well as operators of bars and eateries, aimed at facilitating effective profiling.

Titis Akpudo, the President General of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), stressed the importance of supporting the efforts of the Agunechemba security squad to ensure adherence to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directives.
