Amaechi’s former ally, Magnus Abe confirms dumping APC for SDP
Senator Magnus Abe, a former ally of the former Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, has stated that he has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The former senator of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly confirmed the development, saying that he is now a member of the Social Democratic Party.
Senator Magnus Abe, a former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, in a statement he personally signed, stated that he is commitment to the growth of internal democracy in the politics of Nigeria.
Abe’s statement, posted to his Facebook page, reads in part:
“Yes, I am and I have been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
“I remain irrevocably committed to the ideals that have driven my politics through the years.
“And I will continue to do all we can to improve internal democracy in the politics of our country and focus on the people.”
Among his many grievances for leaving the ruling party, Abe said that he neither knew his ward chairman nor any activity of the main opposition party in the state.
