The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has expressed displeasure over the action of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo regrading the suspension of Hon. Mbazulike Iloka, generally known as Mba Mba, who was accused of killing his wife in a case of domestic violence.

The APC State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Okelo Madukaife made the remarks in a press release issued in Awka, dated August 13, 2022, and made available to News Band.

Speaking, Mr. Madukaife noted that Governor Soludo should have done better than merely suspending Mba Mba.

He recalled that Iloka colluded with Governor Soludo “and the Rubber Stamp legislature in Anambra State to lay false claims to political leadership in Nnewi North LG for criminal allegations”.

He, meanwhile, welcomed the idea of suspending same and asking the Head of Service to hold brief “since the purported appointment of a Transition Committee Chairman in Nnewi North is illegal, as it is for 20 other LGs”.

Madukaife said: “In our considered view, it should not be about any crime for which an individual, whose traits would have been unearthed in an election campaign is being investigated, but about the Supremacy of Nigerian Constitution and the unimpeachability of Supreme Court Orders.

“It is instructive that the matter of suspension or a any form of censure, thereof, is not being raised by any legislature in Nnewi North LG, and certainly cannot be raised by the ten fingers of two leperous hands pretending to be councilors, but directly from Awka.”

He, therefore, called on Gov. Soludo to “tow the sensible line of sacking all other 20 pretenders, in the remaining LGs, hand over to the Heads of Service, and reconstitute boards of Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to enable the umpire announce a date for LG Polls.

“No politician of whatever creed, class or persuasion should lead any LG in Anambra State, the training ground for higher leadership, except as elected by the respective LGs, to make them accountable.

“Otherwise, Gov. Soludo should resign as Governor, to give way for a Transition Governor, until our state is ready for democracy, as the power of both governor and LG Chairman derive from the same constitution.

“We seize this opportunity to restate that it is illegal for the state government to collect any revenue, which by law should accrue to any LG, through properly constituted Local Governments,” Madukaife concluded.
