A 43- year-old accountant, Olalekan Ogungbemisola, on Tuesday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N833,000 from DOF Academy.

The police charged Ogungbemisola, who resides at 2, Paul Close, Church St., Ekoro, Abule Egba, Lagos with theft , forgery and causing breach of peace.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Olusegun Oke, told the court that Ogungbemisola committed the offence on March 4, at DOF Academy, Clem road, Ijaiye ,Ojokoro, Lagos.

Oke alleged that the defendant falsified the tellers in order to reduce the fees students paid.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant pocketed the remaining fees, but luck ran out on him when one of the parents came to the school and complained.

Oke said that it was then that the school discovered the defendant’s acts.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 168, 287 and 365 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate D. S Odukoya admitted the defendant to bail of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.

Odukoya adjourned the case until Sept. 27 for trial.
