Honourable Chris Nkwonta, member of the House of Representatives representing Ukwa East/West in Abia State has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas announced his defection on Wednesday during the House plenary.
Meanwhile, Aliyu Madaki, the Deputy Minority Leader, who is a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) from Kano, while reacting to the defection, called that Nwonta’s seat be declared vacant while citing a section of the constitution.
But in response, the Speaker told Madaki that he was aware of a faction in the PDP.
