The tragic incident, which occurred while the businessman was returning to the state, has heightened concerns among residents.
Following a State Security Council meeting held on Thursday, Navy Commodore MacDonald Ubah (rtd), Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, described the gathering as a proactive measure aimed at sustaining peace and order across Abia State.
“This is a monthly meeting that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State, normally holds.
“Building on current security measures, Ubah highlighted Abia State’s ongoing efforts, stating, ‘We remain committed to sustaining progress.’
He assured residents that security agencies are actively investigating the businessman’s murder and pledged transparency in communicating the findings.

“All hands are on deck to unravel that incident, and investigations are ongoing. Whenever we have results, it will be made public,” Ubah said.
The meeting also served as an opportunity to assess the overall security situation in the state. Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Isa, highlighted the importance of such engagements in maintaining relative peace, particularly during festive periods.
“As you witnessed, with the special operations that we carried out both in Aba, Umuahia, and all area councils, we had relative peace.
Recently, CP Isa observed that Christmas and New Year celebrations drew crowds, with relatively peaceful holidays marking the period.
Additionally, he urged security agencies to collaborate closely, ensuring Abia’s stability. Residents must stay vigilant and aid law enforcement as safety efforts escalate.
