Mr Toyin Subairu, Senior Special Assistant to president Bola Tinubu on Domestic Affairs and Special Duties, has been accused of using his position to block the prosecution of Abubakar Isa Funtua and his Ugandan ally, Asega Aliga, who allegedly defrauded Keystone Bank of N28 billion through phony loans.

The allegation was made by former presidential spokesman and publisher of Point-blank news, Mr Jackson Ude.

Vociferous Ude also revealed that Isa Funtua and Aliga collected another $25 million from Keystone Bank and disappeared.

Ude, who disclosed this via a post on his official X handle, said Funtua only returned to Nigeria after he was summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

However, sensing that he could be convicted for fraud, Ude said Funtua enlisted Toyin Subairu to reach out to the anti-graft agency and using the President’s name to stall his prosecution and that of Aliga.

He said, “After collecting millions and a promise of other benefits, Toyin Subairu has been using his position as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Domestic Affairs and Special Duties, to stop or frustrate the prosecution of Abubakar Isa Funtua and his Ugandan ally, Asega Aliga, who both defrauded Keystone Bank of N28billion through phony loans.

“And in 2023, when Keystone Bank declared over N20billion in profit, the two crooks collected N20billion and shared amongst themselves, leaving the bank with about N6billion.

“As if that is not enough, Isa Funtua and Aliga also collected another $25 million from Keystone Bank and disappeared. Isa Funtua only returned to Nigeria when he was summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

“Sensing the possibility of a conviction, Isa Funtua has not petitioned the Attorney General’s Office seeking his prosecution be moved to the DSS when he hopes to get soft landing.

“He has enlisted Toyin Subairu, Tinubu’s SSA Domestic in his bid to escape prosecution. Subairu reaches out to the EFCC and using the President’s name to stall prosecution of Isa Funtua and Aliga for looting Keystone Bank.”
