IED kills 8 civilian JTF operatives in Borno
8 members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Borno State on Saturday were killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Gamborun local government area of the state.
The IED was said to have been planted by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The unfortunate incident was disclosed by security analyst and counter insurgency expert Zagazola Makama.
According to Makama, the victims instantly died after they stepped on a landmine on Saturday, April 27, 2024, on their way to Maiduguri from Gamborun Ngala.
While quoting intelligence sources, Makama said that three other victims sustained various degrees of injuries.
The wounded were immediately evacuated to the hospital, while the 8 CJTF who paid the supreme price were taken to their families for burial arrangements.
