…awaits fallout of PDP primaries

…lament lack of interest by its members

Worried by the declining interest in the forthcoming local government elections and the continuous factionalization of the party in the state, the All Progressives Congress stakeholders in Akwa Ibom have converged in an emergency session in Uyo.

The event which took place at the Amazing Grace E-center along Obio Imo Street, in Uyo was attended by the Ahmadu Attai led faction of the party, and had in attendance former Rivers State military administrator Group Captain Sam Ewang.

The stakeholders lamented that despite repeated calls and advocacy, nobody appeared interested in coming out to express interest in the local government elections in the APC platform.

They agreed that for the sake of awakening of interest, the stakeholders must go and mobilize their people to show interest in the election.

They lamented that despite being at the center, the APC has been unable to empower the stakeholders to help them mobilize supporters in the party.

They were said to have agreed that the forms for the councillorship aspirants should be reduced to N50,000 while the chairmanship forms should be pecked at only N100,000.

They also allegedly agreed that the primaries of the party should be delayed until after the PDP primaries, so that aggrieved persons in the PDP who lose out, can come and use the APC platform for their ambitions.

Furthermore, our reporter learnt that the party ruled out zoning in its allotting of political positions, maintaining that anybody with capability of causing a stir against the dominant PDP, should be encouraged to contest.

Most of those who condemned the apathy by the federal government, pointed out that the inability of their party, APC to make any in route at the grassroots level might likely spell doom for them in the 2019 election.

They advised the leaders of the party to as a matter of urgency resolve the crises that has rocked the party and finance the running of the party structure in the state.

Captain Sam Ewang advised the stakeholders to assure their supporters of federal support, insisting that the era of being scared of PDP was now over since the party was in charge of the security apparatus in the country.
