A 49-year-old lawyer, Etomike Ndiqwe, was arraigned on Monday by the police at an Otuocha Chief Magistrates’ Court, Anambra, over alleged forgery of Public document.

Ndiqwe is being tried on a three-count of forgery, conspiracy and breach of public peace

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. But the Prosecutor, Richard Okoti, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 29 at Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra state.

According to Okoti, the accused forged a street registration certificate, allegedly used same to contest for street name in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area.

He also alleged that the accused and others at large conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace by removing street name Dr Innocent Chidumebi Okonkwo road, which was placed on houses along the street.

According to him, there was no trace of record of the purported certificate in the Anambra East local government area.

The offences were punishable under Sections 443 and 115 of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Vol. II Revised Law of Anambra State 1991.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr M.I. Ogolo, granted the accused person bail and adjourned the case for trial till August 5th.
