Police authorities in Lagos State have confirmed the sad death of a 24-year-old welder, simply identified as Adedeji, who was electrocuted while working at a renovation site on Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, Lagos Island.
His death was confirmed by the spokesman of Lagos command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The police image maker said Adedeji was hired by his brother to work on the second floor of a two-storey building under renovation.
While working, Adedeji accidentally came into contact with a live electrical wire, which resulted in severe burns to both of his legs. The force of the electrocution flung his body to the first floor.
The incident was reported to the Adeniji Adele Police Division by the complainant who had offered the job. Officers from the division visited the scene and confirmed the details.
Photographs were taken, and Adedeji’s body was taken to Yaba General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
