2027: Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso plotting merger — PDP

President Bola Tinubu could be facing a strong opposition in 2027 as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is reportedly working assiduously to strengthen the party and boot him out of office.
Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party disclosed this during an interview on Channels Television.
He said the three political buffalos would put personal interests aside and form a formidable alliance to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027.
According to Abdullahi, had his party’s past leadership managed conflicts well, high-ranking chieftains like former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, Kwankwaso and Obi would still be full-blooded members of the PDP and the party would have defeated Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election.
“We lost Kwankwaso and Peter Obi. Just imagine if they were still with us; we could have won those elections,” he said.
“The APC claimed they defeated us by over a million votes. With just one of these individuals still in our party, that gap could have been closed, and we would likely be in power today. Nigerians wouldn’t be facing the current despair and despondency.”

Abdullahi also revealed that talks are ongoing to bring back Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, his counterpart in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Certainly, discussions are progressing,” he stated, adding, “You will see Peter Obi engaging with Atiku, and meeting with (Nasir) El-Rufai. Managing a party is quite challenging, but we are doing our best to navigate the difficulties we face. Rest assured, we will find a way forward. We have learned our lessons in a tough manner.”
