The Nigerian Coalition of Opposition Political Parties (CUPP) has discovered a secret suit seeking to stop the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), expose the upcoming 2023 general election to massive compromise, and/or sack the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu.

Spokesperson of CUPP, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere raised the alarm on Wednesday after he busted a rigging plot ahead of the 2023 elections and displayed the documents which were later sent to INEC in a formal petition.

Addressing a world press conference, Ugochinyere said the vigilance team of the group, following credible intelligence, discovered how the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma allegedly used fake names, passport photos from brochures, calendars and photo studios to register and upload fake voters in some polling units in his home town Omuma and Ideato area.

He also revealed the secret plot to disrupt the use of BVAS using the instrumentality of court.

According to him, the shocking discoveries have all been forwarded to INEC who assured that those behind the criminality will be arrested and dealt with and the fake registrations taken down.

The opposition also displayed extracts of the National Voters register which it claimed were part of at least 10 million fake registrations done by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group further alleged that the of INEC Chairman, Prof. Yakubu is under pressure for the commission to announce a change to the Commission’s hard stands on the compulsory use of the BVAS machine for accreditation or get sacked as Chairman of the Commission .

Ugochinyere said that the intelligence the CUPP intercepted which has led to the discovery of the suit filed seeking to nullify the BVAS and expose the forthcoming election to massive compromise in the voters register.

He added that the third leg of the plot is to sack the INEC National Chairman through a suspension as the plotters know they cannot get the required numbers from the National Assembly for an outright sack.

The group thereafter called on international partners, local and international observer groups, civil society and the general public to help and protect democracy as the success of any of these plots will erode the integrity and credibility of the electoral process and deny Nigerians the sovereign right to freely choose their leaders.

Ugochinyere also accused the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma of magically falsifying the number of registered voters in his ward from 6,000 to 46,000 in what was dubbed “Omuma magic” at the 46 polling units for Omuma Ward in the state.

He further presented evidence of how INEC register was compromised in Governor Uzodinma’s Omuma Ward and 18 other APC states with upload of fake INEC registrations into the central sever with foreign names which will be uploaded as pre-accredited voters to massively rig the 2023 general election.

See attached evidence of a secret court action filed in Owerri to stop the use of BVAS/electronic transmission of result and the plot to force the INEC chairman out of office for standing firm that BVAS must be used and fake registrations deleted from the sever and the criminal gang behind the compromise sacked and arrested. Read more.
