2 arrested for defying Russian sanctions

The men, one of whom works for the Dutch Ministry of Defence, have been arrested in Arnhem for supplying aeroplane parts to Russia – a breach of the sanctions against Moscow.

The first man’s home and business was raided, and police seized computers and over €250,000 and $8,000 in cash, aircraft parts, weapons and ammunition, FIOD finance ministry investigators said.

The defence ministry worker’s home was also raided, with similar materials seized by military police.

According to investigative website Follow the Money, his name is Michael H, owner of a company named Marine Aerospace and a member of the defence ministry works council.

Both men have been remanded in custody for 60 days.
