1 killed, 3 injured as rival Sara-Suka gangs clash in Jos

A violent clash between rival groups, popularly known as Sara-Suka, has left one person dead and three others injured in the Yantifa community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.

According to media reports, members of the rival gangs, armed with machetes, engaged in a brutal confrontation, forcing residents to scamper for safety.

The chaotic situation left the community in panic as violence spread through the area.

The latest outbreak of gang violence, which occurred late Tuesday evening, has heightened tensions in the community.

Many residents remain on edge, fearing further attacks as authorities work to restore order.

Security forces have been drafted to the affected area to prevent further violence. Local leaders and law enforcement agencies are urging residents to remain calm while investigations are ongoing to arrest individuals responsible for the deadly confrontation.

Lawan Chizo, a vigilante in Jos, who confirmed the latest incident told newsmen that security agencies including soldiers were deployed to restore law and order in the area.

According to the vigilante, the unfortunate incident occurred between members of Sara Suka groups of Anguwan Rogo and Yantifa who have been at loggerhead for sometimes with residents expressing their frustration over reoccurring of such dangerous rivalry between the groups.

Chizo said, though there is still fear in the minds of residents, normalcy had been restored in the area as at press time.

Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police has called for an emergency meeting with leaders of the affected communities to arrest the activities of Sara Suka in the area.

The incident comes two days after three members of Sara Suka groups were killed in a clash around Al-Mohap praying ground.
