The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Baba Umar has continued his on-the-spot assessment of activities of his officers and men especially at the notable black spots all over the state.

This was as the command intensifies its aerial surveillance of the state, with particular attention at the border locations.

The Commissioner had earlier directed all Area Commanders, DPOS , PMF and other striking units in the State to intensify Patrols and sustain stop and search/ tactical operation duties in the State.

This is in order to deny miscreants and criminal elements the opportunity to operate within the State throughout the festive season.

In order to ensure compliance to such  directives and be sure that no stone is left unturned, according to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Haruna Mohammed(SP), the Commissioner had on Christmas eve personally went out for on the spot assessment visits and aerial surveillance to Onitsha an Anaku areas, respectively.

He also visited Abagana, Ogidi  Nkpor, Onitsha  Upper Eweka and Head Bridge communities.

Garba had while at the Upper Iweka and Head Bridge cleared the traffic obstructions in those places and repositioned the officers on duty there and warned them to be polite and civil to members of the Public while discharging their duties.

His visit must have been in response to distress calls from members of the public who variously reported of traffic gridlock necessitated by the checkpoints by some officers in those areas.

More so that hoodlums were operating and robbing commuters in the vehicles in the snarling traffic even as the officers turned blind eyes.
