“What manner of an arrogant, shameless man is Mr. Vincent Okey Udah, a lawyer recently disrobed by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) in Abuja?”
The question was posed to News Band by an indigene of Anambra State who recently saw him fully dressed in full legal regalia during the valedictory court session of Barrister Frank Molokwu held at Ogidi High Court on Thursday, 26th October, 2023, as a lawyer despite being disrobed on September 4, 2023.
Okey Udah was seen parading himself as a lawyer even though his disrobement was widely publicized on the internet.
News Band had, on September 4, reported that the Body of Benchers sitting at the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee disrobed him several years after he was earlier disrobed in the United Kingdom for fraud.
He got the boot following a petition by one Chief Maduabuchi Okafor on behalf of his kinsmen, Ire Village in Umuoji, Anambra State, bordering on allegations of legal malpractices.
Also, the villagers had activated their celebration mode after the disrobement of Okey Udah, who they accused and removed as Ichie Abosi of the Village over issues related to land-grabbing, criminal intimidation and conversion of public funds, as well as terrorising the Community with his ill-gotten wealth and power.
Apparently in a bid to hoodwink the traditional kingmakers of Umuoji who he is trying very hard to convince against expelling him.
The traditional chieftains, properly addressed as “Ndi Ichie Igwe in Council Umuoji”, have distanced themselves from him following his disrobement both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria over massive fraud and theft.

In a letter addressed to all stakeholder in Umuoji written on behalf of the village by the Secretary of Ndi Ichie Igwe In Council, Umuoji, dated September 14, 2023, the Chieftains told Mr. Udah to vacate his traditional stool as a chief until his so-called appeal is heard at Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The chiefs argued that it is a taboo and an abomination in the town for a red-capped chief to steal at all, talk less of a shameless international fraudster, who they say, has destroyed over 100 families in a huge mortgage scam in London, “typical of a heartless criminal”
The letter reads in part: “These nefarious activities of Chief Udah is not known only to Ireh village but the entire Umuoji town and beyond.
“At a time Chief Udah would turn himself into a penchant land grabber, at another time he would either misappropriate funds entrusted into his care or would brazenly and artfully defraud the village. Chief Udah has no regard or respect for anyone no matter how highly or lowly placed.
“When the ignoble and shameful disposition become excessive and unbearable, lreh village via the Executive Committee made attempt to call him to order, he dragged Ireh village Executive and stake holder to court for daring to challenge him.”
The indigene, therefore, concluded that “the latest appearance in his legal garb is nothing but an effort to save face instead of kissing the rod and showing humility and hoping that his community will forgive him.
