The apex socio-cultural youth organization of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), has assured a one time “Brief Governor” of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, that it will turn him into a political orphan in the state, describing him as a political prodigal son.
The remarks followed Hon. Ihedioha’s speech at Ghana while addressing Imolites during which he referred to teaming supporters of Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential candidacy in Igbo land instead of Atiku, to as “saboteurs”.
Ihedioha had reportedly taken a swipe on the Igbos for not supporting the candidacy of former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who addressed the Igbo community in Ghana over the weekend said that Igbos are sabotaging their political future for discarding the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in place of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP).
The former deputy speaker, pointedly alleged that it would amount to political naivety and sabotage should the Igbos leave PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and support Peter obi.
However, following a heavy backlash, he acknowledged the spate of the vulgarity and disdain in his comment, he quickly apologised, adding:
“It was blown out of proportion; but for my people who may have been hurt by my choice of word, I am deeply sorry”.
Unfortunately, though, the uncounted word of the former Brief Governor of Imo State could not go down well with the apex socio-cultural youth body in Igbo.
In a swift reaction, the Council’s national president, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, without mincing words, attributed Ihedioha’s apology to as a mere shade of paint on a lady’s lips.
Addressing newsmen in Owerri on Friday, September 30, 2022, in the aftermath of the said TV program, Igboayaka described the TV outing of Emeka Ihedioha as a show of pretense, noting: “your apology is like as a mere paint on the lips of a woman”.
Comrade Igboayaka recalled that Emeka Ihedioha, during the 2022 People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential primary led some Imo delegates to vote for Aminu Tambuwal.
But at “PDP’s convention, when Aminu Tambuwal had a deal to support and stepdown for Atiku Abubakar, Emeka Ihedioha was seen at convention field campaign against presidential aspiration from South East.
He instructed his loyalists to vote for Atiku Abubakar instead of Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim or Sam Ohuabunwa.
“Before presidential primaries when reasonable Pan-Igbo politicians were busy advocating that presidency should be shifted to South-East, even people across all ethnic groups in Nigeria were calling for the presidency to be ceded to the Southeast, the likes of Orji Uzor Kalu, Governor David Umahi, Governor Hope Uzodimma, etc. made comments but Emeka Ihedioha didn’t say any word on television or anywhere, all he did was to relocate to Sokoto to wash his fellow man’s pants and drink” Kwunu”.
“This is where his betrayal against Igbo interest started.

“This is because his notoriety in using his political positions to work against his Igbo brothers and sisters quite unbecoming.
“Emeka Ihedioha is one of leading vindictive politicians in Igbo land, and it’s a risk to allow such fellow ascend to any other political position.
“Emeka Ihedioha loves PDP and his personal political interest more than his (kinsmen) Ndigbo, his plans to sabotage Peter Obi’s presidential ambition is to lick the buttocks of Fulani man with unrealistic promise to present him as PDP presidential candidate in 2031.
The Council, therefore, insisted Ihedioha to hold a resounding campaign in the State for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, saying that it would serve as a proof of the sincerity in his apology.
“We therefore challenge Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha if he is sincere about he is sorry over the anti-Igbo comments, let him rally for support and mobilize for Peter Obi in 2023 presidential election, this is the only condition Ndigbo will forgive him, else the entire Ndigbo nation will make him a political Orphan in Imo State”, Igboayaka concluded.
