Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has sacked the Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Mr Ford Ozumba.

Ozumba was removed from the office through a press statement from the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, and signed by the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser, Oguwike Nwachuku.

Though no reason was adduced for the action, our correspondent gathered that it might be connected with the botched State delegate election of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the ongoing strike declared by the organised labour movement in the state.

The government had been accused of orchestrating the stalled election as its preferred candidate was losing ground in the election.

The statement said, “Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has approved the immediate removal of Chief Ford Ozumba, the State Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, from office.

“Accordingly, His Excellency further directs that Chief Ozumba hands over to the Permanent Secretary of his Ministry with immediate effect.”
