On February 17, 2025, the United States Embassy in Abuja will temporarily close.

Similarly, the Consulate General in Lagos will also close in observance of Presidents’ Day.

This announcement was made via the official X handle of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Nigeria.

The embassy emphasized that regular operations would resume the following day, February 18, 2025.

In its post, the mission stated, “The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day.”

Every year, people celebrate this holiday on the third Monday of February to honor the United States’ leaders.

The embassy and consulate will close, but emergency contact channels will still provide essential services to the public.

However, routine consular services, including visa processing, will not be available during the holiday.

Consequently, Nigerians seeking U.S. visas or consular assistance are encouraged to plan their visits accordingly.

The temporary closure illustrates the United States’ dedication to honoring its traditions.

Meanwhile, it ensures essential services remain accessible to those in need.
