Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS), on Thursday, reportedly invaded the Anambra State House of Assembly.
According to an insider, they invaded the State Assembly complex to arrest an undisclosed House Member-elect.
It was gathered that the House of Assembly Members present barricaded the entrances of the complex to ensure that the DSS operatives do not desecrate the Hallowed Chamber.
A News Band ally, Mr. Eneh Victor Chigozie, reported that the attempts by the DSS was to arrest Hon. Augustine Ikedoji, House member-elect for Nnewi North state constituency, which was foiled.
Mr. Eneh wrote: “DSS earlier today invaded the scared chamber of the Anambra State House of Assembly where the newly elected House of Assembly members were holding their induction.
“It was a desecration of the Hallowed Chamber.
“After arresting Hon Ikedoji, other House members present at the induction, blocked all exits in the Assembly complex and insisted that DSS had no right to make an arrest inside the chambers.
“While the melee was going on, the Deputy Governor who was billed to declare the induction open drove in.
“He quickly intervened in the crisis and DSS asked the Speaker to bring him to their office at the end of their induction.
“AIF Media gathered that one big man from Nnewi has vowed that Hon Ikedoji will not be inaugurated with his colleagues.
“The big man had vowed that the young man would not win his election. But ndi Nnewi said no and ensured that Ikedoji won the bigman in both his poling unit and his ward.
“He has again vowed that the young man would not be inaugurated along side his other colleagues on Monday 12th.”
The said big man, Hon. Ike told News Band during an interview a fortnight ago, is Chief Cletus Ibeto, who is in a multi-dimensional battle with his home people for daring to challenge his high-handedness and intimidations.
