Umana Umana Wednesday’s sitting at the on-going Akwa Ibom Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja produce more dramatic moments and startling revelations of what happened on

the 11th of April 2015.

The latest bombshell comes from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff who served as Electoral Officer in Nsit Ubium during the Governorship elections, Mr Austin Nwanna.

Testifying as Defense witness, No. 27, Mr Nwanna disclosed that the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) of the Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr Umana Umana [image above] showed that he (Umana) went to the wrong polling unit on Election Day.

Answering questions from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lead counsel, Mr Nwanna said that according to Mr Umana’s PVC, he was registered in Unit 001 in Ward 4 whereas he (Umana) wrote in his witness statement that he voted in Ward 3.

Nwana told the tribunal that there was election in Nsit Ubium Local Government and that he was involved in the distribution of election materials as he was the last person to vet and confirm it as the Electoral Officer.

He admitted that his functions included the supervision of election and the distribution of election materials, which he discharged diligently.

Nwanna was confronted with Exhibit 321(A), a video clip tendered by the petitioner showing Mr Umana Umana complaining that there was no election in Nsit Ubium. From the video, the INEC insisted that there was election in Nsit Ubium LGA.

When shown Exhibits JJ 1-10, Mr Nwanna identified a few  polling units where there were no elections, explaining that there were cancellation of results in 7 units out of 88 units in the entire local government.

He said he went out to over 75 units and he saw firsthand, the conduct of the elections

Nwanna dismissed Obong Umana’s claim that there was no election as untrue; recounting that Mr Umana had accosted him to lay complaints about the conduct of the election. He

He, who said he was fully involved in the distribution of materials as the Electoral officer of the LGA, however insisted that he did not receive complaints from his supervisory officer that ballot papers were not enough except the complaints of the Petitioner.
