Two Igbo groups , the IGBO PEOPLES CONGRESS AND THE IGBO ABORIGINES have lent their weight for the creation of Equity state (Etiti state) from Igbo land following a recent assurances by President Mohammadu Buhari to create a state in Igbo  land before 2019.

The groups noted that the Etiti state which would excise some local governments from the five igbo states will be the most plausible option for Ndigbo for now until other states are created  in the zone in the nearest future.

The spokesmen of the gorups Pastror Okey Colbert and Chidi Obisike noted that Equity state has what it takes  to be viable and called on Ndigbo to support it. They called on Ohanaeze Ndigbo and south East governors and legislators to support it as the most viable option for Ndigbo presently.  The Capital should be between Okigwe and Awgu , they noted while calling on President Buhar to fulfil this promise as soon as possible. The south East loses more than four hundrd billion naira annualy for having the least number of states and local governments in Nigeria including other opportunities at the centre , they noted.

They also commended a well known entrepreuner and education administrator Dr Greg ibeh( now Prof Greg Ibeh for his role in the entire process  to give Ndigbo a sense of belonging.

In another development the COALITION OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS OF NIGERIA, COCSON will hold a Remebrance lecture for all fallen Nigerian human right and civil society activist in Lagos by the end of March.  Among the fallen activists to be honored include Gani Fawehinmi, Chima  Ubani, Bagulda Kalto , Emeka Ezeze and many others.

The National President of the group Chuks Ibegbu noted that the event will feature lectures, speeches and honor for key fallen human right activists in Nigeria. He noted that the event will be honored by academicians, Governors and activist all over the country.

Meanwhile COCSON has called the Nigeria Army to rescue the abducted Dapchi girls at all cost . The President of the group Chuks ibegbu lamented that the Boko Haram menace caused by the ruling class in Nigeria (religous , ethnic and traditional wings) is a big sore that have refused to heal but is rather getting more notorious. He vowed that COCSON  will flush out nepotic and myopic politicians in 2019.
