Two Igbo groups, Igbo Peoples Congress and Igbo Aborigenes, have lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for the unconstitutional and illegal release of public funds totalling one billion dollars for the so called fight against Boko Haram which he claimed to have already defeated.

The spokesmen of the groups Pastor Okey Colbert and Chidi Obisike wondered why President Buhari is taking Nigerians for fools and spending public funds of that magnitude without recourse to the National Assembly and when Nigerians are in distress economically.

“We thought he had defeated Boko Haram long ago?

”Why is he now appropriating such huge funds for the fight against a group he had defeated and decimated,” they querried.

Its nothing but an economic crime against Nigerian people in general and the Niger Delta people from whose lands the money now being frittered away comes from.

The groups lamented over the current plight of the Nigerian people and noted that the money will certainly end up in the pockets of top Politicians and military chiefs .

“Ninety five percent of the money will surely end up in the pockets of government officials and military chiefs who create the insecurity in the country with a view to walloping state and public funds.

“The remaining five percent will be used to purchase outdated and obsolete military equipments from shylock and dirty countries,” they lamented.

“It is the same people that brought about Boko Haram and supported them in the past that are now wasting public funds to pretend to fight the same monster they created,” the groups noted.

In view of the ugly situation, they called on the National Assembly to immediately impeach President Buhari for his intolerable insults and unauthorised spending of public funds .

They wondered why such funds cannot be used to set up and strenghten our defence industries to manufacture weapons of war for our army instead of promoting the defence industries of other countries.

“Our leaders are destroying and making mockery of this country,” they lamented.

“Millions of Nigerian technocrats wallowing in abject poverty can use one hundredth of that huge funds to build up a strong defence industry for Nigeria but these politicians will keep on spending our money with impunity and in frivolous manner,” they rued.
