The Tony Elumelu Foundation [TEF] has expressed much excitement about the encounter with French President, Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday in Lagos.

In a short memo made available to ElombahNews, the Foundation said that yesterday was a big day for them at the Foundation.

TEF wrote:

“During a vibrant, no-holds barred session in front of 2,000 entrepreneurs, French President Emmanuel Macron offered a bold and new vision of France’s relationship with Africa.

“He passionately advocated a new partnership, prioritizing Africa’s vibrant private sector and most importantly, saying Africa’s future was and should be in Africa’s hands.

“His experience as an outsider who transformed French politics and the way he spoke directly to and not at the audience, electrified the room.

“Our Founder, Tony Elumelu, moderated the session, giving the President an opportunity to engage with Africa’s brightest entrepreneurial minds.

“The two leaders stood side-by-side, surrounded by thousands of African business leaders.

“As part of the event, we signed an agreement with Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the French development bank to establish a research partnership, a risk-sharing guarantee framework and access to high-level mentors for TEF entrepreneurs.

“We are proud of the work we have done to empower Africa’s entrepreneurs.

“We are grateful to our partners and our supporters large and small who are fervent advocates of our mission.

“Most importantly, we are grateful to you for your unwavering support.

“Today marks a new chapter in the Tony Elumelu Foundation story – stay tuned for what’s next.”
