Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic recovery and sustainable development, promising to intensify efforts to deliver prosperity for all Nigerians.
Speaking at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, the President described the vote of confidence passed on his government as both an honor and a call to greater responsibility.
“I appreciate this vote of confidence and wholeheartedly accept it.
However, it is not just an endorsement but a challenge to do even more. We will vigorously pursue food security, attract investment, and drive sustainable development,” Tinubu said during his address.
Optimism Amid Economic Progress
President Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic trajectory, citing improvements in key sectors and a gradual return to stability.
He highlighted the ongoing decline in food prices as a positive development, particularly with the approach of Ramadan, and attributed these gains to the resilience of Nigerians and the dedication of APC governors.
“Despite global uncertainties, Nigeria is witnessing economic growth and resilience.
I am pleased to see food prices coming down, and I extend my gratitude to the governors for their commitment to improving the lives of our citizens,” Tinubu remarked.
The President also noted that his administration remains focused on fostering collaboration across all arms of government to achieve national progress.
He commended APC governors, National Assembly members, and party leaders for their contributions toward advancing the party’s vision for Nigeria.
Resolving Internal Party Disputes
In addressing internal party matters, Tinubu urged APC leaders to resolve lingering disputes at the state level.
He directed the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to establish committees tasked with addressing these concerns.
“The NWC is performing excellently, but we must work towards resolving conflicts in various states.
I appeal to all party leaders to remain patient and cooperative,” Tinubu emphasized.
APC Leadership Reaffirms Commitment
APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, praised party members for their resilience and reiterated the party’s dedication to fulfilling its electoral promises.
“Though the journey has been challenging, we have risen to the occasion and continue to meet Nigerians’ expectations,” Ganduje stated.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also assured Nigerians of the National Assembly’s unwavering support for the administration’s economic reforms and development agenda.
“The Senate will expedite the passage of legislation that promotes economic growth and national progress,” Akpabio said.
Similarly, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, commended President Tinubu’s leadership and willingness to make bold decisions necessary for Nigeria’s development.
“Your courage in taking sometimes unpopular but essential decisions is commendable,” Abbas said.
Applause for Economic Policies
The NEC meeting followed a high-level APC caucus gathering on Tuesday night, where party leaders lauded President Tinubu’s economic policies.
They pointed to significant achievements, including a 3.84% GDP growth in the last quarter of 2024 and a steady decline in inflation, as evidence of progress under his administration.
As President Tinubu continues to steer Nigeria toward economic recovery and sustainable development, his administration has emphasized collaboration and inclusivity as cornerstones for achieving its ambitious goals.
The NEC meeting served as a platform for reaffirming this commitment while addressing pressing challenges within the party structure.
