It’s always easy for government officials to sit in their air-conditioned offices and talk to their hearts’ satisfaction about ease of doing business, conducive business climate, making the state attractive to investors and all those trendy governance speak.
But the everyday experience of Anambra traders and those who buy from them is at variance with official claims.
Almost all the roads leading into and around our major markets are in the state of disrepair. This makes buying and selling in such places a horrible experience.

For instance, attached pictures were taken today at Amobi Street, Ochanga Market, Onitsha. With what I saw today at that market, it will be difficult to convince myself to go back shopping there anytime soon despite their competitive prices.
This may explain why some of our people abandon the near-madness here and take their businesses to places with better organization and infrastructure.
While we encourage the government to fix our marketplaces, we must condemn irresponsibility on our part as citizens.
We indiscriminately dump liters in open places and even drainages only to turn around and act all surprised, play the victim card and of course point accusing fingers when it rains and our litters come staring us in the face.
It is well.
