With a population of over 2 million, of which more than 80 percent are lovers of the art and films, there Is but one theatre firm and no single cinema’s in the city. This has been a call for lovers of art and quality films in Nnewi who are majorly bankers, lawyers, Doctors, students and film makers and civil servants as to why the city is yet to have a single cinema house. The question has always been, “ does the Nnewi populace lack the artistic values of a cinema or the financing to set up a community cinema in Nnewi in short supply? “

With the recent growth of one Of Nigeria’s industrial hubs, Nnewi in other sectors of economy, there is no doubt that the town is the fastest growing city in the South East. Like every growing city, there has been the need to set community facilities that will serve the inhabitants.

Tobe Osigwe in his famous book, “Toward A Better Nnewi”, opined that what makes a town urban or rural is the presence of efficient transportation system, Five Star hotels, recreational parks, stadium, good road networks, workable sewage system, water supply, enlightened populace, theaters and cinemas, modernized shopping malls, healthy night life, security, street lights, city master plan being followed and vibrant media outlet.

Research has proven that  4 out of every 5 believes that Nnewi is ripe enough to have a cinema and they also believe that a cinema would be a lucrative source of revenue for the city if situated in one of the numerous sites in Nnewi.
