The Nigerian Biafran civil war of 1967 to 1970 was merely a crater on the long running road of Igbo holocaust that has lasted since 1953.

After landlocking the Igbos, chopping off their territorial boundaries, killing well over three million in the Biafran holocaust, followed by on going military occupation of Igbo land, and persistent state backed police despoilation of Igbos, overtopped with continuing threat of genocide, the least the world can do is hear about it.

Holocaust survivors devote the rest of their lives to relentless pursuit of justice against their persecutors assisted by humans of good conscience worldwide who are determined to erase that stain of unrequited wanton killings of fellow mankind.

The on running Igbo holocaust deserves the attention of the world no less even if the Igbos themselves, fatigued and weary, have failed in their duty to commit themselves to relentless pursuit of justice.

Mass murderers and child killers are celebrated in their home country, monuments are named after these genocidists, and the fury of ethnic hate never ceases to rear its head against the docile Igbos.

Black lives matter. If the Igbos were not black, Biafran holocaust would not be a mere footnote in the pages of history. It is a whole chapter of White assisted black on black genocide.

One holocaust survivor named Nnamdi Kanu has made it his life’s ambition to put back Biafran holocaust in the world’s lexicon where it rightfully belongs. He can be heard wailing in anger and bitterness against not just Nigeria but against a world where black lives don’t matter.

Any human being who has issues with Kanu’s righteous rage borders from insensitive to insane.

How can a holocaust survivor not be seized with rage when the perpetrators of same holocaust are not only walking free, have shown no remorse, and threaten more holocaust against emotionally downtrodden Igbos who have lost the appetite for armed confrontation?

But here comes an unarmed Kanu, baying into cyberspace, using language calculated to shock the conscience of the world to an evil it once ignored.

No greater duty has a holocaust survivor than cry for justice and if necessary, die crying for it. No greater love has a man for his people than he wills to lay down his life for them.

Kanu can rage and wail so long as he bears no arms against anybody and if it bothers you, stick your fingers deep inside your eardrums. If Black lives truly matter to the world, then the Biafran holocaust deserves no less attention than all the other holocausts. This is Kanu’s point and if you disagree, get back in the zoo where you rightfully belong and wait for provisions from the zoo keepers.

I am a Biafran holocaust survivor. It is an indelible reality in my life and I not only appreciate, I endorse Kanu’s righteous indignation. He is an Igbo original, crying out against social injustice, as our forefathers would have.

This current generation of Igbos need to wake up. We were frontline in Slave lives matter. From Haiti to plantations in America, Igbo slaves tugged at the conscience of the world until slavery was abolished. We must continue tugging at that conscience for Black lives until it matters everywhere.

To be clear, as a Christian, I abhor the shedding of blood, even of my enemies. Reconciliation is better, forgiveness is divine, absence of resentment brings enduring peace. I understand all that but I cannot in good conscience gag the mouth of anyone crying out against injustice even if I would have preferred a different choice of words.
