We have noted with a deepening sense, the daily validation of our conviction and call to our citizens to come and join up with us in this mission to Take Back Nigeria – Inch By Inch, and Rebuild Our Country – Brick By Brick; as our call continues to gain resonance with our people at home here in Nigeria, as well as in the diaspora.
When we embarked on this journey in 2013, and again in 2017 when we took the decision to engage the failed leadership of the discredited ruling class on the electoral tuff, by seeking to engage with the 2019 general elections; we had issued a clarion call to Nigerians, the victims of the misrule of the ruling elites to become politically active again, and if they agree with us, to endorse our platform, and come and join up with us.
We released our election manifesto, and political program, and welcomed everyone who endorse us to come and be a part of our movement.
It is in this sense that we are gladdened to note that more and more of our compatriots are harkening to our call and picking up mantle of active political organising and mobilising, and echoing our call and programs.
We want to assure all Nigerians that as many of us as agree essentially with us and endorse our programs are welcomed on board to join us and or work together with us.
However, we believe that it will amount to creating confusion, that will ultimately undermine the collective effort to Take Back Nigeria and Rebuild Our Country, if there are people, who agree with us, project the public image that they endorse our platform and are working together with us; through the use and adoption of our name, our slogans, our promotional brands, including hashtags, and creating similar online platforms [in particular on Facebook] using the name of our movement; when in reality they are not and have not indicated interest in being members of our movement.
It is this emerging slant that is somewhat troubling for us. For the avoidance of doubt, there is already a political movement called Take Back Nigeria Movement, with materials and documents that have been publicly available for several years.
We have stated clearly in the past for instance that we are not a 3rd, 4th, or 5th Force to the ruling and opposition parties. We are simply the Counter Force to all the establishment forces.
We welcome people to join up with us as members, just as we welcome collaboration with people who may not want to be our members, but still want to work with us. But we are also wary of the confusion that taking on our identity when one is not working with us can cause in the minds of our people.
