There was palpable shock at the FCT High Court, Zone 2, Wuse, Abuja, on Monday as the Inspector General of Police [IGP], Ibrahim Kpotum Idris denied ever arresting the legal adviser of Elombah.com, Barrister Daniel Elombah, and his junior brother, Mr Izuchukwu Elombah.
IGP Idris made the denial in an affidavit deposed on behalf of the Nigerian Police by one Mr Emmanuel Ihenacho, the Investigating Police Officer [IPO] and filed in court.
In the affidavit, Mr Ihenacho claimed that the only member of the Elombah family arrested was Tim Elombah, the Chief Editor/Administrator of Elombah.com.
In the words of Ihenacho: “We are just only two and not plenty police men as alleged by the applicant [Tim Elombah].
“We never ransacked his house; he willingly agreed to follow us down to our office in Abuja.”
He further stated: “I did not at any time nor my colleague, arrest any other person in connection of this case other than the applicant [Tim Elombah]”.
