Barring any change of plans, the former National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Modu Ali Sheriff will return to his former party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi confirmed the move in a statement.

ElombahNews gathered that Sheriff would be received by the APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and other senior officials of the ruling party.

It could be recalled that Sheriff was last year kicked out of the post of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Supreme Court.

Reacting to the proposed defection, Malam Abdullahi warns Sheriff that he must “join the Party… at the ward level” if he must defect.

In the statement, he wrote:

“Our attention has been drawn to reports in some sections of the media that the former factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) today at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

“While we are aware of such intentions, we wish to restate our earlier position that anyone who wants to join the Party should do so at the ward level.

“We are happy to welcome new members to our party, but membership cards are not issued at the Party National Secretariat.”

Sheriff was a former governor of Borno State and three term senator at the National Assembly.

Reacting to the departure of Sheriff from the party, Reno Omokri, an aide to former president, Goodluck Jonathan expressed delight at the move.

Taking to his Twitter handle, he wrote:
