Senate Holds Valedictory Session For Late Senator Wakili
Senate has held a valedictory session for late Senator Ali Wakili on Wednesday, just as the lawmakers suspended plenary session in honor of the departed Senator.
Before his demise on March 17, Senator Wakili was the Senate representing Bauchi South in the Senate.
Moving a motion for adjournment of the plenary session, the Senate leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan stated that the departure of the Senator Wakiki was a sad incident to the Red chamber.
He said, “It is also a sad incident for his senatorial district that he represented so well and for the entire country as well as development of democracy in the country.
“It is our tradition, convention and culture in the National Assembly that when this kind of divine incident happens, we normally observe one minute silence in honour of the departed.”
The motion for the adjournment and one minute silence in honour of departed Bauchi born politician was Seconded by Senatie Philip Adidas.
Speaking before the adjournment of plenary session, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, said it was proper for the Upper chamber to adjourn the plenary as mark of respect for Senator Wakili.
