Nnewi stakeholders have reportedly endorsed Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah for Anambra south senatorial seat for the 2019 general election, according to news  just reaching the stables of ElombahNews.

According to our correspondent, Mr. Chigozie Eneh, the stakeholders also asked Bianca Ojukwu to step down and support Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah to boost Nnewi’s chances for the seat.

With the endorsement, Ubah is sure of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo delegates, according to Mr. Eneh.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that Orumba South and Orumba North delegates are also with Ubah making it five LGAs that are in his support presently.

Aguata will also support Ubah as they have conceded senatorial ticket to old Nnewi Division, leaving out only Ihiala which is the only dissenting voice for now.

Feelers from Awka, the Anambra State capital, also shows that the governor, Chief Willie Obiano has favoured Ubah above Bianca.

In the words of Eneh, “it is Ifeanyi Ubah everywhere you go”.

Bianca’s problems started at home when she could not rally family members, including her step-children, to support her.

ElombahNews is aware that speaking with journalists in an interview, Dr. Ike Ojukwu, one of the step-sons, believes that it will be a letdown to allow Bianca to represent Anambra South senatorial district.

His reason is that his step-mother is from Ngwo in Enugu State, whereas there are several prominent people in the Senate from same area.

Dr. Ojukwu asked: “Is she from Nnewi? She is from Ngwo in Enugu State.

“If you ask me, I would prefer someone who is a son of the soil, and because I come from Nnewi, I would like an Nnewi indigene to represent us.”

Observers, though, dismissed these sentiments as “primitive, retrogressive, unconstitutional, despicable and shamefull”.

A civil rights group even dared the step-sons to “obtain nomination forms and contest for elective position rather than engage in the past time of operation pull her down politically”.

According to the group, it is a gross disrespect to the iconic personality of their late father and the husband of Bianca, late Chief Odumegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.
