Below is a picture of a lady, a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB], and a pro-Biafra campaigner shot dead by operatives of the Nigerian Police on Friday in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The yet-to-be-identified lady was shot during a pro-Biafra rally by security operatives.

Police and military officials are known for shooting live bullets on protesters in several spots across the country.

The women, who are generally unarmed civilians, were exercising their constitutional and fundamental rights protesting for Biafra restoration.

The IPOB women were conducting a peaceful rally in Owerri and ended up being shot at which resulted in the death of the woman.

Reacting to the development yesterday, the convener of the Niger Delta Self-Determination Movement [NDSDM], Ms. Annkio Briggs lambasted the security authorities.

In a statement she issued on behalf of NDSDM, Ms. Briggs stated:

“Yesterday it was women in their homes and farms.

“Today it is IPOB women asking for their own country.

“Tomorrow it will be women of where?

“RIP Nwanem Nwayen!

“RIP Nwayen IPOB!!

“RIP Nwayen Igbo!!!

“How does shooting a bra wearing IPOB woman exercising her basic human rights, (as guaranteed by the UN declaration and the so-called 1999 Constitution) right to protest with fellow bra wearing women result in shooting at them with live bullets that resulted in the death of one woman.

“When did flat breasts or firm standing supported by bras become weapons of massive destruction? That the owners have to be killed?

“When did the Nigeria police become so frightened of the God given and natural equipments that sustained them in the first years of their lives that they have to start shooting at women for saying “they want a country of their own?

“Federal Republic of Nigeria is a shame in the committee of civilised nations, and should be expelled from the security council of UN and as a member nation.

“I call on women across Nigeria to reject a Country that kill fellow women for speaking their minds.

“I am enraged by this UNACCEPTABLE KILLINGS OF WOMEN IN NIGERIA BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA.

“If these women were protesting in Katsina will they be killed?

“Nigeria carry on, keep going on your path to finally imploding and self-destroying.

“It is dangerous for women anywhere in Nigeria to pretend it will never be in their backyard,” the statement concludes.
