Scores of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters have been killed following a bloody clash between the two rival groups on Thursday.
While quoting intelligence sources, counterinsurgency expert and security analyst, Mr. Zagozola Makama, on Saturday report that the clash took place east of Mallam Fatori, near the border with Niger Republic.
The confrontation according to Makama led to the deaths of dozens of fighters from both factions, with several others sustaining severe injuries.
“The two groups have been engaged in bitter rivalry over influence and control in the area. This latest confrontation has further weakened their operational strength, as many fighters were killed, and their hideouts exposed,” a security source stated.
