The executive governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom has congratulated Godwin Obaseki over his victory in Edo State governorship election, describing his victory as “true reflection of the wishes of Edo people and not the machinations of some individuals and self-made gods”.

Godwin Obaseki who trashed his opponent, Pastor Osagie at the polls was a former APC governor who defected to PDP after he had a hitted political clash with the former APC chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

However, In a congratulatory message Samuel Ortom said, “On behalf of the government and people of Benue State, I heartily congratulate Governor Godwin Obaseki on his victory at the just concluded Edo State governorship election”.

“Governor Obaseki’s victory is a true reflection of the wishes of Edo people and not the machinations of some individuals and self-made gods”.

“I commend the dogged determination of Governor Obaseki to overcome intimidation and uphold the mandate his people popularly gave him”.

“I equally congratulate the people of Edo State, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike who was the Chairman of PDP Campaign Team for the 2020 Edo Governorship election”.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC also deserves plaudits for the credible conduct of the polls without yielding to pressure to thwart the will of the people”.

“I pray God to continue to guide my Edo State counterpart to enable him serve his people in the second term”.
