Rivers police apprehends notorious robber, Bobosky

There was a heavy sigh of relieve at the police command headquarters in Rivers State on Saturday as the most wanted notorious armed robber and kidnapper alias Bobosky was finally apprehended.

Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State had earlier placed a N30 million bounty on Bobosky’s head, saying he will reward any member of the public who can provide vital information that will possibly lead to the arrest of the notorious armed robber.

Bobosky, whose real name is Honest Digbara, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday at Korokoro in Tai Local Government Area of the State during a sting operation led by the Divisional Police Officer of Bori, Superintendent Bako Angbashim.

According to reports, Bobosky was said to be attending a funeral when policemen acting on a credible information invaded the area but on sighting police, he opened fire leading to a gun duel which, immediately took the life of his younger brother who also work as his personal driver.

Bobosky, a nightmare to many residents in the Ogoni axis of the State, has been linked to most of the atrocities committed in the area.

He was paraded at the headquarters of the command at Mosco Road, Port Harcourt.

He later died as a result of multiple gunshot injuries and machete wounds sustained during gun duel with the police.

Addressing journalists, the state police commissioner, Joseph Mukan, said, “He was arrested through credible information at Korokoro Community in Tai LGA where he was hibernating with his gang of killers.

“On sighting the police, they engaged us and in a return fire, his driver was fatally wounded, while he was arrested alive.”

Mukan warned criminal elements to “repent, relocate or face the full weight of the law”.
