Fubara who was the former Accountant General of Rivers state was declared wanted along side 58 others for N435 billion fraud by the anti-graft agency.

He won the PDP gubernatorial ticket in May after defeating 16 other aspirants. Fubara is from Opobo kingdom in Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area of the State.

He polled 721 votes with his closest rival, Isaac Kamalu, polling 86; George Kelly, 37; Felix Obuah, immediate past Chairman of the party, 2 votes.

His emergence somehow fulfilled the yearnings of the proponents of power shift from the upland part of the state to the riverine part.

Peter Obi who was in Rivers State today to commission Nkpolu-Oroworokwo flyover while addressing the large crowd that gathered to witness the ceremony, promised governor Wike that the both party will negotiate in order to have an outcome that will favour them in the state.

The promise was made after the Niger Delta born politician appealed to Peter Obi to caution the Obidient supporters in the state.

Meanwhile, the supporters of Labour Party in Rivers State are reportedly not happy with Peter Obi for adopting someone who is on the wanted list of EFCC.
