REMEMBRANCE: Jonathan eulogizes former boss, late President Yar’Adua

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has eulogized his former boss, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, on the thirteenth remembrance of his death.

Jonathan, in his remarks, noted that Yar’Adua was a “great and selfless leader” who pursued “peace, justice and accountability.”

According to him, Yar’Adua lived above ethnic and religious sentiment and inspired many positively with his public life.

He remembered the late Nigerian President for his “life of service, dedication and commitment” and “developmental strides and commitment to the peace and progress of Nigeria”.

The statement, obtained by News Band on Friday, reads:

“On this day thirteen years ago, our nation lost a great and selfless leader President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua . He was a man of peace, justice and accountability.

“We look back with appreciation to God for the gift his life and his impact in our nation.

“President Yar’Adua was an exemplary leader, who lived above ethnic and religious sentiment. And his public life inspired many positively.

“Today we remember him for his life of service, dedication and commitment to a united and prosperous nation.

“We will continue to remember him for his developmental strides and his commitment to the peace and progress of Nigeria.”

The former president of Nigeria, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, it could be recalled, died on May 5, 2010, aged 58, after a protracted illness. Read more.
