PSC appoints two new deputy Inspectors General of Police

The Police Service Commission (PSC) recently announced the appointment of two senior officers as Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs).

Following recent retirements, AIGs Sulieman Amuda Yusuf and Rhoda Adetutu Olofu will fill DIG vacancies in Operations and ICT.

The Police Service Commission appointed them based on seniority and performance, according to spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani.

Additionally, both officers originate from the North-Central geopolitical zone.

Notably, the PSC praised their exemplary service, anticipating promotions will motivate improved force-wide efficiency while reinforcing nationwide policing standards.

DIG Sulieman Amuda Yusuf brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Over the course of his career, he has served in various capacities, including as AIG Zone 9, Umuahia; AIG Federal Operations at Force Headquarters; Commissioner of Police in Taraba State; Deputy Commandant at Police Colleges in Kaduna and Oji River; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Operations in Jigawa State; and Assistant Commissioner at the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) in Bauchi State.

DIG Rhoda Adetutu Olofu also boasts an impressive career trajectory.

Her previous roles include serving as Force Secretary at Force Headquarters, AIG Maritime Police Command in Lagos, Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority Police Western Ports Command, CP X-Squad at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), CP Servicom in the Research & Planning Department, and DCP in multiple departments such as Research & Planning, Training & Development, Investment, Logistics & Supply, and Administration.

Additionally, she has held the position of Assistant Commissioner in the Establishment Office of the Force Secretary.

Both officers graduated from the Police Academy, launching careers as Cadet Assistant Superintendents on March 3, 1990. Over decades, they demonstrated unwavering dedication and professionalism.

Moreover, both originate from Nigeria’s North-Central geopolitical zone.

The Commission emphasized their exemplary service records, affirming that these promotions will drive improved police performance nationwide.

The Chairman of the PSC, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the newly appointed DIGs on their distinguished careers and encouraged them to continue contributing to the growth and efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.

He also reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring timely and merit-based promotions within the police hierarchy.

The PSC has communicated its decision to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation.
