Protest: My govt will not allow few with political agendas destroy Nigeria — Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has warned that his administration will not stand idly and watch while few individuals with political agendas destroy Nigeria.
”Our government will not stand idly and allow a few with clear political agendas to tear this nation apart”, Tinubu said.
He made the declaration during his nationwide broadcast on Sunday morning.
Though, this is coming after young Nigerians have taken to the streets on Thursday last week to register their disapproval with the worsening economic conditions and rising inflation.
The protests had somewhat turned chaotic in some Northern states after it was hijacked by some criminal elements.
The situation prompted security operatives to use tear gas in cities like Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Kaduna to disperse the protesters.
Also, more 20 peaceful protesters have been reportedly feared killed in Abuja, Kano and Niger State.
But addressing the situation, president Tinubu urged the protesters to halt their nationwide demonstrations and create room for dialogue and resolution.
“I urge the protesters and their organisers to pause further demonstrations to make room for dialogue, which I have always been open to,” Tinubu stated.
