President Tinubu makes fresh appointment
Mr Ojukaye Amachree has been appointed as the new Director of Energy Security within the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) by President Bola Tinubu.
The appointment was disclosed in a statement made by Zakari Mijinyawa, the head of Strategic Communications at ONSA on Tuesday.
In his new role, Amachree will be responsible for policy coordination, infrastructure protection strategies, data management, security coordination, risk advisory, and strategic partnerships within the energy sector.
According to Mijinyawa, Amachree’s appointment is part of the government’s broader efforts to ensure a stable, sustainable, and secure energy supply for Nigeria.
Amachree’s focus on energy security is expected to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure and enhance strategic planning in the sector, aligning with the administration’s commitment to improving national security and energy sustainability.
“In this new role, Hon. Amachree will oversee key national energy security initiatives aimed at enhancing energy security as well as strengthen community participation in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources to support short and long term energy sustainability,” the statement partly read.
He noted that Amachree brought over 20 years of experience in business, politics and engagement with the energy sector, with a proven track record of leadership in both the public and private sectors, particularly in the Niger Delta.
According to him, the new energy security head will work closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies and regulators in the energy sector.
He added that Amachree will also work closely with international partners and community leaders to implement innovative solutions to Nigeria’s current and future energy challenges.
Mijinyawa further disclosed that the new appointee of the President holds degrees in Management, and he’s an alumnus of the Lagos Business School.
He added, “The appointment underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening energy security and resilience, while addressing supply chain concerns.
