President Muhammadu Buhari has thrown his weight behind Hon. Victor Giadom, as leader of the the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction.

Announcing President Buhari’s position, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to President, Mallam Garba Shehu stated:

“In response to enquiry by some State House Correspondents:

“The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman.

“Because he will always act in accordance with the law, the President will be attending the virtual meeting Giadom called for tomorrow afternoon.

“We urge the media to stop promoting manufactured controversies and to not give any further room for mischievous interpretations of the law on this matter.

“In addition to the President, the Giadom meeting will, hopefully, be attended by our Governors and the leaders of the National Assembly.”

A High Court on Monday, June 15, approved Chief Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The development comes ahead of the key emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party on Tuesday in Abuja.

A few day earlier, the Court of Appeal in Abuja postponed indefinitely the scheduled hearing of the appeal filed by the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Giadom, the party’s Deputy National Secretary, who is the highest ranking official, has been leading the party since the judgment by the High Court in the FCT.

The court had ordered Comrade Oshiomhole to vacate office as National Chairman following his suspension by the party in Edo State, his home state.

In the meantime, a Court of Justice sitting in Jos, Plateau State, has granted an Order compelling the Acting National Chairman of APC, Victor Giadom, to proceed with the NEC meeting fixed for Thursday, June 25th, 2020.
