Political thugs attack Sowore in Lagos
Suspected political thugs attacked the publisher of Sahara Repoters and human rights activist, Mr. Omoyele Sowore and his team, on Saturday morning at the ongoing Lagos City Marathon.
News Band understand that the rogue elements also attacked some journalists covering the event. Their cameras and other gadgets were said to have been damaged.
A camera wielding journalist, it was learnt, was grabbed by his neck by one of the thugs.
Sowore who was also the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 presidential election, confirmed the attack in a post on his official Facebook page.
Though, Sowore said he is safe and unharmed.

According to the activist, trouble started after some thugs accused them of unlawfully occupying “VVIP” space post-event.
He said, “How occupying a canopy after the Lagos Marathon 10k infuriated some rogue elements who assaulted our crew members and journalists leading to unprovoked attacks which led to the seized a camera of one of our journalist insisting they view and delete all the contents because it caught them live attacking our crew in Lagos.
“I am safe and unharmed in Lagos. Yes, some rogue elements launched an attack on us after completing the Lagos Marathon today, claiming that we unlawfully occupied the “VVIP” space post-event. They mobilized thugs to assault us.”
