Police raid criminal hideout in Taraba; rescue kidnapped victims in Oyo

Abuja – February 26, 2025 –Recently, the Nigeria Police Force has made significant strides in combating organized crime.

To accomplish this, they execute coordinated operations that directly target criminal activities nationwide.

For example, these initiatives focus on seizing illegal firearms, apprehending suspects, and freeing kidnapping victims.

As a result, these measures highlight the police’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding lives and property throughout the country.

In Taraba State, police operatives executed a well-planned operation that produced notable results. Acting on credible intelligence, officers raided a criminal hideout at the Wamunchi dry season rice farms on February 26, 2025.

During this operation, authorities recovered one AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, three Dane guns, a bow and arrow, and a motorcycle. Furthermore, they apprehended twenty male suspects at the scene and promptly transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry. Currently, the suspects are undergoing profiling to uncover potential links to other criminal activities.

In Oyo State, tactical teams from the Oyo State Police Command, alongside local security outfits, promptly rescued three kidnapped victims. The victims—Olori Hakimat Sadia (50), Olori Rakyat (45), and Monsuru Ganiyu (20)—were abducted on February 24, 2025, from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji in Agede Village, Moniya, Ibadan. Following their rescue on February 25, 2025, authorities arrested one suspected kidnapper, ensuring the victims’ safety and providing necessary care.

Investigations are now actively underway to capture the remaining gang members, demonstrating the commitment to justice and security in the region. This swift action highlights the effectiveness of coordinated efforts in combating crime and protecting citizens.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has commended the bravery and professionalism displayed by the officers involved in these operations.

Their swift and decisive actions have effectively disrupted criminal networks while reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to safeguarding citizens’ safety and security.

In a related development, the IGP has promptly ordered the immediate deployment of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT). Consequently, the team will prioritize efforts to rescue Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader.

Prince Ojajuni was abducted on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja. The Force is leveraging all available resources and expertise to secure his safe return.
