The deputy Public Relations Officer of the Cross River State Police Command, Igri Ewa said police are still combing Calabar creeks for the kidnapped Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Gertrude Njar.

Njar was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday morning near her house in Calabar.

Ewa said in an interview: “We are combing all the creeks in Calabar South and have also unleashed the tactical forces towards the rescue of the commissioner. We have deployed our men, including the tactical teams to be on the trail of the suspected kidnappers. We cannot yet confirm the extent they have gone.”

In the meantime, Commissioner for Information, Eric Anderson confirmed that the car of the abducted government official has been found and retrieved.

Sources said security teams trailing her abductors found her shoes by the creeks.
