The leadership crisis in the Labour Party of Nigeria took a very disturbing dimension on Wednesday when a factional leader of the party, Lamidi Apapa was bundled out of the court by a police officer after he came under serious attack by some aggrieved supporters of the party.

After he was bundled out of the court like a common thief, Apapa was also stopped from addressing newsmen by the angry supporters of LP.

In a video obtained by News Band Newspaper from the scene of the chaos, Apapa who appeared visibly frustrated was blocked, booed and called “ole” by the aggrieved crowd.

Though, to arrest the situation, police had to ward off the determined crowd who followed and blocked him from entering his car or leaving the court premises.

News Band earlier reported that the presidential election petition court on Wednesday morning refused to recognize any representative of the Labour Party except the 1st petitioner, Peter Obi, who was in court.

Before the court commenced proceeding, the factions of the Labour Party could be seen at the PEP court, engaging in a war of words over which faction is the authentic one.

The Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the LP was challenging why members of the party loyal to Julius Abure were in the court.

They asserted that the ruling of a High Court of the FCT, suspending the Abure-led faction, remains.

Recall that the Federal High Court, Abuja suspended Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party over alleged forgery of documents including court documents.

Following this, Apapa took over the leadership of the party but there has been a crisis in the party since then.
